Casa Malcampo is surrounded by 4 surf breaks – Tofinho Point is the most renowned. In fact it’s the most consistent break in Mozambique and extremely photo friendly when sitting on the grassy headland next to the surfers. You’re so close you could be in the water with them! On a large swell some of the locals will be towed into the massive line up. Tofinho is not for beginners.

Tofo beach is the perfect venue for learning – totally protected from southerly winds, producing gentle swells in a very safe environment. Further down the beach larger waves are formed on moving sand banks.

There are waves all year round and a 20 minute trip to Barra Beach during cyclone season (Dec – Mar) can produce epic right handers that just barrel forever. It’s a long walk up the beach to paddle out for the next wave.

So why come surf here? Well, the Indian Ocean waters are warm, the locals are friendly, everything is dirt cheap, and the waves are truly world class. Perhaps the question should be, “Why not?”
